The East Hampton Conservators has endorsed Bishop for reelection.

David Doty, treasurer of the East Hampton Conservators presented a $500 check to Congressman Tim Bishop’s re-election campaign. The East Hampton Conservators is a political action committee whose mission is to support candidates with a demonstrated commitment to environmental protection. Doty noted that unlike other environmental organizations the Conservators can be and are politically active.

Doty noted that Congressman Bishop, a Democrat has an outstanding environmental record. At the local level Congressman Bishop acquired Federal support to supplement Community Preservation funds for the purchase of seventeen ocean front acres in Montauk, formerly the Dick Cavett property, an environmental gem that will be publicly owned so it can be enjoyed by all. The Congressman used his influence to oppose the Broadwater project an enormous barge for storage of natural gas to be anchored in Long Island Sound offshore Suffolk County that would have had an enormous negative environmental impact.

Congressman Bishop is also a supporter of wind, solar and geothermal sources of energy. Mandated energy conservation away from fossil fuels will foster lower fuel prices he asserts. The environment of Long Island is the economy of Long Island, Congressman Bishop noted. Doty said that Tim Bishop is exactly the representative Long Island needs in Congress.
